Harold Gordon-Smith is a multi award-winning classical guitarist who has performed across all continents in over 40 countries. He completed both a Master’s Degree and a Postgraduate Artist Diploma with First Class Honours at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, achieving a rare 100% for his final postgraduate performance.
Harold’s recent engagements include a masterclass and concert in Portugal, with upcoming appearances at the University of Cape Town and the Botanical Garden in Rio de Janeiro. He has appeared as a soloist at Kings Place, London, as part of the Trinity Laban Gold Medal Showcase, representing the Strings Department.
His accolades include the Director’s Prize of Excellence, a nomination for the Maisie Lewis Award at Wigmore Hall, the Cleave Montague Award for Guitar, First Prize in the Alison Stephens Competition, and Second Prize in the Sarajevo Euro Strings International Guitar Competition.
Harold has developed a strong artistic connection to the music of J.S. Bach, leading to collaborations with the Netherlands Bach Society and soprano Aimee Noltie. He was recently commissioned to premiere a new work for guitar, with this collaboration to be featured in American Music Magazine.
Recent festival appearances include Latitude Festival, the Royal Greenwich Guitar Festival, International Piano Week Festival, and the Festival Internacional de Cordas Douradas de Viana do Castelo. An opportunity to perform Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez with the London Symphony Orchestra was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is currently collaborating with composer Haris Kittos, Professor of Composition at the Royal Academy of Music, on a new solo guitar work, with plans for a premiere performance and professional video recording in the near future.
